Week 25 & 26 Review
I purchased a bright orange sweater with the blastoff rails logo on it to wear to the SF Ruby conference this month. It says "Blastoff Rails" on the back but now I am thinking I should have put "blastoffrails.com" instead. If I am going to be a walking advertisement I should have doubled down. I am also going to order some stickers and business cards. I need to start posting more on social media about the CFP because submissions have trickled down to almost nothing. There are just over two months left until the deadline and I know people will probably wait until the last minute but it still makes me nervous.
Speaking of the SF Ruby Conference I was blown away by the cloud cards site that they created. Such a great idea. If you buy a ticket to the conference you get a link to a site where you can upload a picture of yourself and it will generate an AI cartoon image of you with the signature clouds and bridge from the conference site and marketing. It is a fun way for people to engage with the conference and it got a ton of people to post to their social media about the conference that might not have before. I am definitely going to steal this idea for Blastoff Rails. Perhaps the novelty of AI generated images will have died down by next summer and people won't engage with it as much but I still think it is a fun idea.
